Clear answers about memory and thinking
People come to us to answer questions like:
- Is this normal aging, mild cognitive impairment, or the beginning of dementia?
- Memory changes have been diagnosed, but what kind, and what should we expect?
- We were given a diagnosis and want a thorough, independent second opinion.
- How has a stroke, brain injury, Parkinson's disease, or another medical condition affected thinking?
- Is depression, anxiety, medication, or sleep making thinking worse, and could that be treatable?
- Is it still safe to manage medications, finances, or driving?
- We need a baseline now, so that changes can be tracked accurately over time.
Why a neuropsychological evaluation, and why now
A brief screening can flag a concern, but it can't characterize it. Neuropsychological evaluation measures memory, attention, language, reasoning, and other abilities in depth, compares them to what's expected for your age and background, and distinguishes among causes that look alike but lead to very different futures. Some causes are treatable. Some diagnoses, checked carefully, turn out to be wrong. And when the news is hard, an early and accurate answer gives families clear answers and plans. Dr. Clark is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology (ABPP) with particular depth in memory and cognitive change across the lifespan. Evaluations are unhurried, respectful, and paced for comfort. This is a careful look, not a test you can fail.
Cognitive changes after injury or illness
Not every cognitive question begins with aging. If your thinking changed after a traumatic brain injury, stroke, seizures, or another medical event, a neuropsychological evaluation maps precisely what has been affected and what has stayed strong. That map becomes the foundation for practical things, such as treatment and rehabilitation planning, return-to-work or return-to-school decisions, workplace accommodations, and an accurate baseline for tracking recovery over time.
These evaluations are tailored to your medical history and coordinated closely, with your permission, with your treating physicians. Dr. Clark's background includes staff neuropsychologist work in a rehabilitation hospital setting, and it shows in how these evaluations connect findings to recovery rather than stopping at scores. Repeat evaluation is available to measure change as recovery progresses.
If your situation involves a legal claim (e.g., personal injury): see Forensic Evaluations, as those evaluations follow a separate process.

How it works
Evaluations are completed at our Belton office; interview and feedback are available by video. Through PSYPACT, record-review consultations and second opinions are available to clients in 40+ states, and out-of-state families sometimes travel for a single-day testing visit.
