ADHD and autism evaluations for both children and adults go beyond just determining a diagnosis. They also illuminate the patient's strengths and weaknesses, giving a better understanding of how their brain works and providing recommendations to improve overall functioning.
A Journey of Self-Discovery
Do you or someone you know struggle with difficulty focusing and concentrating, impulsive behavior, social interaction, or sensory needs? Individually these symptoms may not indicate much, but when put together they can suggest the presence of ADHD or autism.
ADHD and autism evaluations can uncover the underlying causes of persistent challenges and empower individuals to improve self-awareness and overall well-being. For children, ADHD and autism evaluations provide a unique opportunity for early identification, enabling individuals to get the support they need during crucial developmental stages. Nonetheless, these evaluations are just as critical for adults, as they shed light on difficulties they have experienced throughout their entire lives, including work, relationships, and daily responsibilities. |
Furthermore, these evaluations contribute to destigmatizing neurodivergent experiences in childhood and adulthood, fostering a more inclusive society that recognizes and values the diversity of neurological profiles.
What Does It Mean to Be Neurodivergent?
Being neurodivergent means that your brain functions in one or more different ways from what is considered standard or typical. Neurodivergence encompasses a range of conditions, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, synesthesia, dyscalculia, epilepsy, Tourette’s, and others.
Neurodivergent individuals experience cognitive, sensory, and social differences that shape their unique perspectives and ways of interacting with the world. Neurodiversity seeks to frame these differences as something that is not inherently problematic or “bad”; rather it embraces all differences and highlights how they should be validated.
Viewing these conditions through a positive lens fosters inclusivity, and emphasizes diverse cognitive strengths and perspectives that can drive meaningful changes in society and people’s lives.

What to Expect During an Evaluation
We'll start with a thorough interview to assess your current state and review your medical, psychological, and social history. You may be asked to bring a family member or friend who can provide additional information to the interview.
After the initial interview, you will be given a series of standardized tests that best suit your specific situation. These tests typically involve oral questions, paper and pencil, computers, the manipulation of materials such as blocks and puzzles, and other procedures. We will evaluate a wide range of cognitive functions, including attention, memory, language, reasoning and problem-solving, visuospatial ability, sensory-motor skills, and also mood, behavior, personality, and academic skills. |
After we analyze all of the information and integrate it into a comprehensive report, we will meet again for a follow-up appointment. We will go over the results together and share our recommendations for further examination and treatment plan.
